What’s Hot This Week on Kickstarter? 20th September, 2021

Hey everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend?  Welcome back to the start of a new week, being Monday, that means it’s time to delve into the crowdfunding world of Kickstarter to see what surprises await.  This week, we deliver three amazing new games from three different publishers, each with a history of making fantastic, highly acclaimed games.  So, without further delay, let’s check them out!

Masters of the Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia - Kickstarter

In keeping with the recent 80’s nostalgia revival, it was only a matter of time before Masters of the Universe made a comeback. He-Man and Skeletor are back and up to their old tricks in a new 1 vs many board game, Masters of the Universe: The Board Game - Clash For Eternia by CMON Games.  If you know anything about CMON’s past Kickstarters, then you can expect nothing less than an Eternia’s worth of highly detailed plastic minis, deluxe components, expansion and enough stretch goals to fill Castle Grayskull!

This action oriented board game pits good against evil (Lynn?) in epic battles across the planet of Eternia.  There’s even an option for a massive plastic Castle Grayskull to upgrade your game! Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the Masters of the Universe franchise.  *Note, this game should not be mistaken for another recent He-Man themed game on Gamefound called Masters of the Universe: Fields of Eternia, which is available only within Europe due to licensing restrictions.

Verdant - Kickstarter

If you tend towards houseplants rather than epic 80’s nostalgia-fests, then Verdant has just the thing.  This 1-5 player game has players tending to houseplants and attempting to organise them in the most favourable arrangement within their homes to ensure they have just the right quantities of sunlight and nurture to enable them to flourish.

Including elements of set collection, spatial puzzles, token drafting and tableau management, Verdant comes courtesy of Flatout Games, the creators behind Calico and CASCADIA, so you can expect fine attention to detail with smoothing artwork appropriate to the theme and component quality and production values to match. Think Wingspan, but for potted plants. Check out the Kickstarter page for more details.

SolForge Fusion: Hybrid Deck Game - Kickstarter

SolForge Fusion: Hybrid Deck Game comes from Stone Blade Entertainment, the creative minds behind the Ascension series of card games, and drawing on talent from personalities who have worked on Magic: The Gathering.  SolFurge Fusion is a hybrid deck building game where two halves of completely different, or perhaps even complementary decks are merged into one deck, similar to Smash Up, a well known and highly expanded hybrid deck game from AEG.

SolForge Fusion provides a different spin on the concepts, having been designed with both physical and digital playability in mind and using algorithmically generated printing processes to ensure no two card decks will ever be the same. This ambitious project plans to support tournaments in both physical and digital formats and the Kickstarter campaign offers several upgrades to the base set including multiple expansion decks and neoprene play mats!
